OADE Scholarship Information

Dear Interested Students and Educators,

The OADE Executive Board is pleased to announce the formation of an OADE Scholarship Program which seeks to award deserving developmental students across the state for their hard work and dedication on the collegiate level.

We are excited to report that two $400.00 scholarships will be awarded in March 2009.

To qualify, the applicant must:

Have completed at least one quarter or semester of college and must have taken at least one developmental course in math, reading, or writing.

Have maintained at least a 2.5 GPA. Additionally, the applicant must submit a transcript or unofficial grade report.

Complete the OADE Scholarship Application found below.

Compose a 300-500 word essay in which he/she addresses how developmental education has impacted his/her education. (The essay should be typed, double-spaced, with 12-point font.)

Have two recommendation forms from faculty, staff, or advisors from the applicant’s respective college submitted on the applicant’s behalf. One of these forms must be from the applicant’s developmental education instructor. Each recommendation form should be emailed directly to tkoski@cscc.edu from the reference’s professional email address and must be completed on the confidential forms found below.

Mail the application, essay, and transcript/grade report together to:

The application and required information must be postmarked by February 16, 2009 in order to be considered. (Both recommendation forms must be received via email from the references by this date, as well.)

OADE Executive Board Members and OADE Scholarship Committee Members will make the final decisions. In the event a member has submitted a recommendation form for an applicant under consideration, the member will abstain from the selection process.

The OADE Scholarship can only be awarded to an individual student once.
