Job Responsibilities |
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides college-wide leadership for Developmental
Education including academic support services,
curriculum, and program delivery. Works
collaboratively with faculty, appropriate Associate
Deans and the Deans for Academic Affairs to insure
that the developmental curriculum is designed to
promote retention and adequately prepare
Developmental students for college-level study.
Insures quality and consistency of academic support
services including tutoring, assessment and
supplemental instruction. Researches and works with
the faculty to implement approaches to accelerate
student progression through Developmental Education.
Acts as program advocate and representative
internally and externally. Collaborates with
Associate Deans on the campuses with regard to
faculty assignments to Developmental courses.
Recommends and collaborates with faculty and staff
in other departments (e.g., Access, Workforce
Solutions) in the design and implementation of
innovative initiatives and provides administrative
leadership for grant-funded projects focusing on
improving the performance of Developmental Education
students, such as the College's Developmental
Education Initiative grant. Provides leadership in
identifying and responding to community needs that
fit the College's mission and goals. Markets program
and services. Leads the development of program
strategic plans, priorities, policies and
initiatives related to Developmental Education and
related support services. Provides leadership for
Developmental Education program evaluation and
outcomes assessment. Has college-wide responsibility
for budget oversight, planning, allocation, and
monitoring for the program. Prepares grant proposals
to obtain funding for projects and programs. In
collaboration with the Office of Faculty
Development, sponsors staff development seminars,
workshops, and guest speakers to enhance faculty
expertise in Developmental Education and student
success. Supervises the Developmental Education
administrative staff, Assessment and Testing
Coordinators, the Student Support Services staff and
department support staff. |

Required Qualifications |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in English, Math or a field related
to the teaching and/or administration of
Developmental Education.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible
administrative experience administering
developmental education or similar programs or
projects in an educational setting
Strong leadership skills
Knowledge of technological applications to student
learning
Demonstrated expertise in cognitive psychology and
learning theory
Evidence of successful teaching and curriculum
development in Developmental English, Reading or
Math
Demonstrated ability to obtain college wide support
for increasing student learning and student success
Experience setting up budgets, allocating funds, and
tracking expenses
Thorough knowledge of the particular educational
needs of developmental students in an urban setting
Ability to understand and evaluate statistical
information and analyze and interpret assessment
results
Demonstrated ability to plan, design, and implement
assessment/learning labs both on campus and off site
Excellent oral and written communication skills and
demonstrated ability to work within a team setting
Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of
a diverse population |

Preferred Qualifications |
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in educational administration or field
directly related to the delivery of Developmental
Education
Experience in developing college wide ownership of
student success would be highly valued
Experience in an Achieving the Dream school,
preferably as a campus leader in the initiative.
Progressively responsible administrative experience
administering developmental education and/or similar
programs or projects in an urban community college
Demonstrated ability to secure additional funding
from external and/or internal sources via proposals
and grants
Demonstrated ability to develop effective private
and public partnerships |

Work Schedule |
Standard college hours: 8:30AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday.
|

$112K annualized |
